My Resolutions from last year
Swim. Frame art. I swam once. I framed four pieces of art (that leaves me with about 15 more). MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Right? This year’s resolution: Dance. I think it’s pretty achievable. Though I do mean I want to go to dance classes, but today Shannon told me she would go with me. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Maybe. We’ll see.

melissa: ekstasis: Take This Book: The People’s Library at Occupy Wall Street by Melissa Gira Grant, on Kickstarter “This used to be a library: thousands of books, thousands of people, tended to by a dozen or so librarians in Zucotti Park, the first home of Occupy Wall Street…” Somewhere in that library was my name, printed and bound above the first story I ever published. On a livestream,...

Movies of 2011
This past year I decided to write down every single movie I watched. It made sense doing this after 2010, where I watched so many movies, went to so many film fests, and could barely remember half the movies I watched, let alone the ones I really loved. However, in 2011 I went to exactly zero film fests, and loved only five movies. I watched a lot of TV series this year, not so many movies. But...

conflictedintrovert asked: I don't have a point, I'm just curious about how people at your work finding out about your hobby would affect your work? I realize that they are not connected in anyway, but it is not uncommon in the US for an educator to loose their job for portraying themselves in a sexual manner even though it is in their private life. Is this a concern for you? I've thought about...

togetherforjacksoncountykids: “It’s Okay to be Neither,” By Melissa Bollow Tempel Alie arrived at our 1st-grade classroom wearing a sweatshirt with a hood. I asked her to take off her hood, and she refused. I thought she was just being difficult and ignored it. After breakfast we got in line for art, and I noticed that she still had not removed her hood. When we arrived at the art room, I said:...

Emo(tional) blah(ging)
Some days you do stuff. Other days you sit around waiting for people to realize how vulnerable you were for them. You wait for people to talk to you and tell you how much they love you and how sorry they are for how everything’s been going lately. You eat butter toffee peanuts for breakfast and think about doing stuff. But you just keep waiting for people to notice how much you gave of yourself to...

meganfalley: Below are my responses. Kamone’s initial posts can be found at http://toskateonsun.tumblr.com/post/14192133773 . Kamone is a friend and fellow poet who makes some very interesting points that i wildly disagree with. I suggest you read her entire post beforehand, but what mostly struck me as worth responding to was the statement “Chris Brown beat a woman. He is not a man who beats...

My new column is up! →
kateordie: For the night crowd who may have missed it, my latest article about how girls need heroes. I should have had a ‘trigger warning’ on the original listing but it slipped my mind somehow; I discuss body issues and sexuality at length and touch on self-injury, albeit briefly. Just so’s you know! All I do now is reblog everything that Kate Leth posts. DEAL WITH IT. Because now your life...
