we watched this documentary in my class. you should watch it. but i also want to emphasize that intersectionality is the most important and most overlooked aspect of radical change. the discourse for women’s rights CANNOT end at women’s rights—it must extend into HUMAN RIGHTS. the heart of a feminist must extend to communities of POC, queers, trans, sex workers, immigrants, handicapped, poor, the list goes on and on.
UNITY AND VISIBILITY as the revolution! love and live out loud because you deserve it. and when institutional, individual, or structural media or people try to tell you otherwise, SAY NO.
As a 25 year old, white, well-educated, middle-class man, I never cease to be shocked that I have a lot of male and female friends who say that feminism is no longer necessary. That we live in an equal, post-feminist age. I say to them, “Bollocks.” This video explains, very succinctly, why that statement is bollocks. Watch it.
