Mine: Someplace to be Flying by Charles de Lint.
The book is set in de Lint’s fictional city of Newford and is about what most of his books are about; that mystical world that exists right on the boundaries of everyone’s perceptions. That is my main reason for loving this book - because I believe in magic and am secretly wishing and waiting for that day when that world that carries on right beyond my reality shows itself to me. My other reason for loving this book is because it has some of my favourite characters of all time in it, the Crow Girls. Also, the book contains one of the most bad ass scenes I’ve ever read and one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenes I’ve ever read, which is a pretty good mix. I don’t know, I just really liked the way this book made me feel. I’m such a sucker for any book and movie that convinces me that magical and mystical things are happening out there, they just haven’t happened to me. :)
