I kept reading all these things that were all, Be careful where you donate money for Japan! Don’t donate money to Japan! Japan doesn’t need any help! The dos and don’ts of donating for Japan! Is your money really going to help Japan?! And it all resulted in me going, but! I just want to do something! and being confused and conflicted about what to do and where to give.
But then today I looked at my favourite kpop site, allkpop.com, and the first post that they have stickied at the top is for their Japan Disaster Relief Fund. 6Theory, the company that runs allkpop.com and, TokyoHive.com are matching any donations that the people who visit their site give to Mercy Corps. And Mercy Corps seems pretty amazing. They’re working with Japan-based NGO, Peace Winds, to continue to deliver emergency supplies — including large shelters, tents, blankets, instant rice and fresh produce — to families evacuated from homes in tsunami-devastated cities.
This all seemed good to me. Kpop + matching donations + direct action in Japan by a Japan-based organization = I just donated $100.
Hope it helps.

if you donate through the sticker on this site, they’ll match your donation! donating is awesome, but double donating is...

Mercy Corps is an awesome charity, and quite a few people have recommended that they’re used if you want to send aid money to Japan.
