oh, tumblr.

first it was the whole ‘tumblarity’ bullshit. tumblr’s going to the dogs, i said. the smart ones agreed and those of us who use tumblr as a blogging platform were disappointed. when the ‘good’ people of tumblr finally pulled their heads out from their asses and saw what a mockery tumblarity was, it turning tumblr into a watering hole for high school popularity contests and all that jazz, it was done away with and the smart ones and i smiled. tumblr had redeemed itself.

then the ‘good’ people of tumblr got bored and stuck their heads back up their asses, so far up this time, and came up with ‘tumblr tuesday’ and it’s another fucking high school popularity contest again with people shamelessly pimping themselves ‘begging’ to be recommended for this and that category so their names and tumblelogs get featured on the big fat directory thingamajig.

seriously? if people thought you were worth recommendations, they’d dole it out themselves but if you have to ask and post up the goddamn links on the hour, they’re not really recommendations, are they? your readers are probably just thinking ‘where the fuck is the cool cat i’m following and here’s your goddamn recommendation, you lousy ‘pimp my tumblelog’ contestant and get back to your usual broadcast, please’.

tumblr’s becoming a shit but that doesn’t mean we have to.

I don’t really see how it’s the GOOD PEOPLE (no quotation marks for it is fact) AT TUMBLR’s fault that people lower themselves to high school popularity contests or shameless self-promotion/pimping. Tumblarity was a genius way to make people addicted to Tumblr. And I like Tumblr Tuesday, I find lots of new Tumblrs I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. If you dislike the shameless pimping, you probably should never have come to the Internet; it’s been infected! and it’s everywhere! and it’s a contagion! and we’re doomed!
