When I was at #BABEFEST2013 I shot mostly film. Today I got five rolls back and I really like them. I haven’t shot with film since university, but I liked every single film picture I took better than the best digital photo I took.
I want to shoot more film. I’m buying a scanner (thanks to Derek Woods for his help in that area), and want to try a bunch of new films. If you’re interested in helping me in this endeavour, I made an Amazon Wish List (that ships to my US address, so it’s usually free). There is a bunch of stuff there I want to try out.
Also, all the photos we took at #BABEFEST2013 are in the midst of being processed and collected into a special project that I’m hoping will be done soon. It is going to be EPIC, so stay tuned for that.
Katie West on Film.
From the first time we shot film a couple weeks ago in Scarborough ON, June 2013. This woman’s beauty is unmatched by anything else I’ve come into contact with. She inspires me, pushes me, makes me re-evaluate and is one of the finest women I’ve ever known.
Developing 35mm colour film
Hi! Where in Toronto do you get your film developed?
I feel a bit spoiled because in Woodstock I was getting it done for around $12 for developing and putting on a CD, whereas in Toronto I paid $25 for the same thing. Am I just gonna have to suck it up and pay that price?
Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: I’m going to try Toronto Image Works. Thanks!
A picture of Jack Scoresby from over a year ago I found on a roll of film I developed, and most likely exposed when I opened the camera to see if there was film in it. Also at the left there is part of a frame that I took while sitting eating lunch in New York City about three months earlier. I obviously don’t use film often.
Faye and I shot film this past weekend. I was shooting with an Olympus Trip 35 and a Mamiya Sekor I bought at a garage sale last summer. It was fun and the pictures turned out better than I had expected. I thought the Mamiya was broken so I wasn’t expecting those to come out at all!
This is all in preparation for Babe Fest 2013.
