Mark Aguhar “My First Denim Vest”
13:25 performance on videoI didn’t know Mark besides the odd times they would show up on my dashboard as someone else reblogged them. And it’s only now that I’m realizing just what kind of person I was missing out on.
Iris already said everything I would have wanted to say. Look at Mark’s art, read their words.
A fund has been established here to support Mark’s family.

Just like any woman…we weave our stories out of our bodies. Some of us through our children, or our art; some do it just by living. It’s all the same.

Valentina Blinova in L’Oiseau de feu [The Firebird], Ballets Russes, Sydney, 1936-1937 / Max Dupain
Suzanne is away with no internet for a week! It’s only been two days and I am already missing her updates. So I actually went looking for similar inspiring things. I found this. Suzanne may have said something like, “Perfect Headgear of the Day XXXI”.
I like it.

This is a picture of Caitlin Kittredge taken by Cherie Priest. Hot, right?
But hold on here. Not only is Caitlin hot, sexy, tall, funny and accepting of my trying to get her drunk to seduce her, but she also happens to be a writer. A damn fucking fine writer. In fact, she sent me some books the other week and I was finally able to pick them up on Saturday and I am currently devouring the first book of her Nocturne City series, Night Life. I love it. A lot. It’s just my kind of book. I suggest you read it too.
(Oh yeah, Caitlin would probably want me to mention that that’s her 1967 Impala. Like I said, right? Hot.)

Further evidence that Rachel Weisz is really a 123 year-old vampire.
I have come to the conclusion that Suzanne’s tumblr, is my favourite tumblr. Everyday it is chock-full of the odd, the strange, the perfect, the inspiring, the weird, the grotesque, the beautiful, the creepy, the wonderful. <3

Poke (via zoetica)
Zoetica Ebb is amazing. You already know this, you don’t need me to tell you.
I met Zo in real life for the first time when I was in LA in July. I’d known her for quite some time in the digital world, but she’s quite lovely in the real world too.
So, like most of the people I’ve been posting today, Zo is multi-talented. A staff photographer for Suicide Girls, a photographer for ChinaShop, a founder of Coilhouse magazine, a fantastic model, a creepily fantastic painter, the most fashionable person you know and of course an inspiring illustrator. I’ve probably missed something she is very good at, as it seems she’s very good at everything. But you get the idea.
I love her art because it makes me feel uncomfortable; the subjects all having that face of being lost in a painful, joyous ecstasy, the twisting and contouring of the bodies, the combination of steampunk, Victorian and Meathook Future aesthetics.
I know you already knew who Zoetica Ebb was, but she had to be included in Art Day!

Sometimes there are images that I get stuck in my head for days, weeks or months. And then there are those images that get stuck in my head for years. One of those images is from Madonna’s Express Yourself video. That’s the video where she’s dancing in a suit, and chained up in a bed and there’s a cute black kitty and there’s this sexy dude, working shirtless in the factories below ground and she sends the cat to get him or something and then she’s like, “Come over here, you big oily man and make me dirty. Express what you’ve got, baby ready or not!” And you know, where she’s under the table, and she’s all wet, wearing a tight black catsuit and crawling on all fours towards a bowl of milk? Yeah, I don’t know why, but that image is just one of those things I’ve remembered for a long time.
I’ve tried to create my own version of this image many times. I’m still not completely satisfied with this, but that just means I can do it another time. I’m a big Madonna fan, and find a lot of what I do inspired in some way by her influence, and I believe a lot of what I do is only possible through her influence. Even the way I make my body move and bend, I can see her in there somewere.
Yeah, Madonna is pretty awesome. And I’m all hopped up on pain killers. Sorry if this makes no sense.
